Homecoming

October 22 - November 15, 2024

Homecoming marks the 20-year anniversary of Richard Haley's MA Thesis exhibition in the Robert Else Gallery in Fall 2004. In the years following, Haley has continued to make work that explores futile gestures of loss and disappearance. These themes are not ends in themselves, but a way of revealing the unknown.

Richard Haley is an artist, art writer, and curator living in Montara, CA. His work has been recently seen in solo exhibitions at Bert Green Fine Art, Chicago and at Conduit Gallery in Queens, New York. His art practice is tied to concepts defining self and being or more specifically, what does one do when one if not sleeping or practicing breathing. The work takes the form of text, performance, photography, sculpture, video.

Join us for a gallery talk with the artist during the reception on Thursday, October 24, 5-7 PM.

Esther Marie Hall

Our Day Will Come

September 10 - November 27, 2024

Inspired by early American quilts and motifs specific to the Underground Railroad, Sacramento-based artist Esther Marie Hall populates her drawings, paintings, and textile work with representations of freedom: stars, interlocking rings, and the colors of the American flag. By reclaiming symbols that in recent times have become highly politicized, Hall invites viewers to “envision a new world, to contemplate a new flag, that symbolizes the freedom and liberation we aspire to achieve, both individually and collectively.”
